Fun reaction, but what a waste of "analysis"! So stereotypical of any religious preacher, just latch onto a single word and spin it off into a sermon that's only tangentially related to the topic. Practically zero discussion of the lyrics, of its imagery, how it connects to the rest of the music, the song structure... Nothing, nada, nil. And then on top of that the very beginning of said sermon opens with a standard for religious thinking example of "Texas sharpshooter" logical fallacy - "if there is a pattern, there must've been intention". The serpent was never described as Satan. It was just a snake. Satan, as a concept of being an evil individual seekig to deceive, only came about later, in the new testament. Hence why in the old testament, Job talks about "the satan" testing him, the position of satan being an angel in God's court sent to test people. If you went to seminary, you'd know that, so it leads me to believe you intend to deceive by teaching the serpent as being Satan, even though that's not the word of the Bible.

In and interview with Maynard that I read he had wanted to write a song about his mother with tool but it never came out and something with perfect circle lit the fuse. He was forced to go live with his father because of his mother’s condition worsened. I think the song is about his internal anger. But you can look up the facts about his mom and him self as well. But I have never read anything about Maynard ever explaining whole heartedly what his lyrics mean in any band that he’s in. So I think in that way they always remain personal to him. Open to interpretation and criticism from others but, it out of him and on the canvas.

When I hear this song, what I hear in the lyric, is a man who is in pain, angry and lost. I know I felt this way when I lost my faith at a bad time in my life. I think that is why I love this song because of the meaning behind it and how Maynard delivers it with the band members that bring their talent to blend it all together. All of the artist in this band are truly gifted and make this song so beautiful. We all lose our faith, I just hope one day we can all find it back.

I think he is talking about people that are religious in name only and do not take their oath seriously just doing it in a dramatic flair like Ghost does.

I know this is an older video, but what I would love to see is your lyrical analysis redone, but enter in to it without assuming there are difference in beliefs. "Wake up, remember" implied is who you (truly) are, where you truly came from. Release the light, implying that in physical life connect with that from which you came, that which you truly are. (Christian analog being prayer, connection and oneness with god) One breath, one word you touched on.. but think about it deeply. (Created of) one breath, one word (implied and the word is god and God is love) one spark (that which fuses spirit and body) To think you can not release the spirit while alive seems counterintuitive, if not to connect with God in life why pray.. why attend surmon, why preach...? To believe in god is sufficient. To know in God is divinity.

Adiu Lemant is a great Megadeth song a bit more of a deep cut but it’s awesome and very powerful. The original version is amazing but there’s another version with Christina Scabia from Lacuna Coil in it that just gives it a whole different drive.

Iron maiden first formed in the mid or late 70s their first album came out in 1980 I think. They had a different singer guitarist and drummer at the time.

The wonderful thing about Linkin Park is that even though it’s often depressing it provokes multifaceted thoughts. This song I think is speaking out to an abusive relationship. Been listening to these guys since they came out (I was ten) still love their music at 33. Check out Faint, Crawling and What I’ve Done

Jesse Leech is the guy with the mowhawk, he and Adam the lead guitarist formed Times Of Grace (another awesome band to checkout) then due to either lack of success and/or lineup change KSE was formed. Jesse Ended up leaving due to personal demons and Howard Jones (the bald guy) joined and was with them until he had to leave for health reasons and Jesse came back and is their current lead vocalist. After getting back on his feet Howard Jones formed Light The Torch check them out too.

I know a lot of people want you guys to react to these sort of "blasphemous" songs, but you guys never let it phase you and simply interpret (and probably rightfully so) the songs as music by people in pain, or you dispel misconceptions, etc. I'm not religious, but I immensely respect your fortitudes and (very clear to me) devotion and faith. If anyone is going to convert me, it will be folks like you two. Much love to you both, and I wish you the best. Can't wait for more content.
